THE FIVE INSIGHTS
The Five Insights
The Five Insights is the framework I use to find the real cause of a business problem before setting strategy. I get five areas clear first: the leader, the customer, the market, the team, and resources and limits.
Once all five are clear, the option that works across every area usually shows itself.
FIVE AREAS
Five areas to get clear before strategy
Result
A strategy that lights the fire
The option that works for all five, and that the leader wants to start on tomorrow morning.
Most plans fail
because they were incomplete
Build only around customers and the team may not be able to deliver. Build only around resources and the leader may not want it. Build only around the leader's ambition and the market may have moved on. Miss one area and a good plan becomes something you have to force.
5C ANALYSIS
How it differs from the 5Cs
If you studied marketing you'll know the 5Cs: Company, Customers, Competitors, Collaborators and Context. They're a good way to read a business's situation. The Five Insights starts with the person who has to carry the business, so the leader comes first, the team gets its own area instead of sitting inside Company, and the strategy has to pass the test of whether the leader actually wants to act on it.
WHO IT'S FOR
For every kind of entrepreneur
Business owner
The leader area is you: what you want from the business and from your life.
Intrapreneur
Someone building something new inside a company. The leader area covers them and the executive they report to.
Solopreneur
Someone running everything alone. The team area covers the people they work with or depend on.

Try it on what you're stuck with
Pick one problem that's stalled and write a short answer for each area. The one that's hardest to write is where to begin. If you'd rather work through all five together, book a conversation with me.
