Insight solves every problem

Owners often tell me they’ve tried everything. More people, and the work still lands on their desk. A new system, and the team still works the old way. AI, and the numbers haven’t moved.

Each fix made sense but went after a symptom. AI only answers well when you ask the right question, so until you know where the real problem sits, it just helps you do the wrong thing faster. Most stuck businesses aren’t short of tools, budget or people. They’re short of insight complete enough to show the real cause.

Why change doesn’t stick

In over 15 years of transformation work, I’ve rarely seen change fail for lack of skill. Usually the project ends and people drift back to the old way, because the strategy never fully worked for anyone. The owner wanted one thing, customers another, the team was half ready, and money and time fell short. So the plan has to be forced, and forced things don’t last.

What insight looks like

Insight is the moment you see what was in front of you all along, and everything rearranges around it. Data isn’t insight, and neither is a long report. My favourite moment in this work is when an owner suddenly sees the way out and takes it.

Before any strategy

I want the five areas of The Five Insights clear first:

  • Leader: what the owner wants from the business and from life
  • Customer: what the people you serve really need
  • Market: where the field, competitors and timing are heading
  • Team: what your people can do, where they want to go, and what’s in their way
  • Resources and limits: what you have, and which limits can move

If one is unclear, even a good-looking strategy only fixes the surface. The leader also has to want to run with it, which is what I mean by a strategy that lights the fire. A goal that doesn’t excite them won’t carry them through the hard parts, and every business has those.

If you’re stuck, answer the five questions honestly. The hardest one usually hides the problem. To work through them together, book a conversation with me.
